Signs you need mole control

• Raised tunnel ridges pushed up across the lawn
• Fan-shaped or conical soil mounds appearing overnight
• Plants wilting or dropping suddenly with roots eaten from below
• A burrow entrance the width of a fist at a shed, deck or fence line
• Shallow scattered diggings across a lawn or flower bed

Why it happens

Every animal in this group is after something specific: moles want earthworms and grubs, gophers want roots, groundhogs want a burrow near a food supply. Identifying which one you have determines the entire approach, and the surface damage is what tells them apart.

The part people underestimate

Burrows under a deck footing, patio slab, shed base or retaining wall undermine them over time, and that repair is a great deal more expensive than the trapping.

How we handle it

Identify the species, remove what is present, seal every route in, then clean up what was left behind. Those last two steps are the difference between a fix and a postponement, and they are inside the quoted price rather than added later.
